ugh
I'm addicted to making Irish Hiking Scarves.
That's all.
Oh, that and I'm very tired.
And I didn't get that promotion at work because they said it would send mixed messages.
Yet, they told me I had it at about 8 am, then reneged at around 12:30.
Who's sending mixed messages now?
Sleeping from this afternoon to tomorrow morning.
Screw Christmas.

socks. I likes them.
Yes, I have been knitting. And to answer anyone's question about how many days there is til Christmas? C'mon. I wasn't being serious. Christmas isn't coming this year. This year, I have like.. 7 pairs of clogs to make, a couple scarves, a shawl and a sweater.
How much do I have done? Nothing. There is no Christmas this year.
I fear that I will have to let down Trev's mum's idea of my knitting prowess, as when she was here this week, she saw me cast on a pair of fingering-weight socks and finish them in 3 days.. *purr Indigo Moon*. The shawl I'm knitting her.. I haven't even picked out the pattern yet. *smacks self in forehead*
(insert finished pair of socks picture here when I finally go home and upload pics)
Any suggestions?
OH. Yarn money update: I am applying for a promotion which means a significant raise and ... it looks like I may get it. I mean, hopefully and I'm not absolutely counting on it, but I really hope that this is going to happen. My application date is on November 30th, and I'll likely find out that same day, as the training starts on December 3rd. Wish me luck!
Oh.. it's come to my attention that I don't rule whether Christmas will happen or not.
pfft.

I Loathe Hats.
I am knitting hats for my bf's three girls, and all I can say is that..
.. I hate them. I literally hate them. The gauge has been off from the start.. Ms hat I ended up buggering up one of the MOST simple lace instructions, Ts comes to an annoying little point at the top, and Cs looks better than any of them.

Mrs. Q tagged me.. I'm down.
The Rules:
1. Link to your tagger and post these rules.
2. Share 7 facts about yourself: some random, some weird.
3. Tag 7 people at the end of your post and list their names and link to them.
4. Let them know they've been tagged by leaving a comment at their blog. (got it!)
1.) I stabbed my brother with a Barbie leg when I was 7 because him and his friend ripped it off. We were pretty poor growing up and I had wanted the Barbie for a long time, and ... yeah. In turn, he stabbed me with a butter knife - both wound sites were the arm.
2.) I am the oldest, youngest, middle and only child. Oldest of my dad's children. Youngest of my mom's children. Middle when you combine all 4 of my siblings and I. Only full child of my parents.
3.) When I was homeless 3.5 years ago, I knit with two odd-sized paintbrushes. the stress was getting to me, what can I say.
4.) I'm verymuch in love. That's weird, eh.
5.) I consider myself a Newfoundlander, and whenever anyone asks me where I'm from, I tell them Newfoundland, despite being born in Alberta. If asked why, I tell people I have entirely-Newfie families, and I was born in Ft. McMurray, AB. The big joke there being that a lot of the population there is from Newfoundland.
6.) Also, when asked how I learned to knit, I tell people my maternal grandmother. In all fairness, it was her pamphlet from the '60s that taught me how to knit, with her mocking me about ending up with twice the stitches on my needle because I wasn't bringing my yarn to the back... pfft.
7.) I have 8 rubbermaid bins full of yarn - most of it acrylic - and I cannot bear to get rid of any of it, although it's in my To Do list, as I am moving into a new place with my man, come March '08. I've resolved to get rid of half of it.. or at least knit up a LOT of it for things like Dulaan, for Covenant House, etc.
.. and since I'm supposed to tag people.. I tag... anyone. ;)

whoa.
You know, it's hard to believe that a week has passed by sometimes, but then you look at the last time you updated... and sure enough.
So, Circle Craft has had it's annual Christmas Craft Market going on, and on Friday, my knitting meetup went to it.
Indigo Moon was there. I fell down. My credit card was involved, and I came back up with this:

That, my friends, is 2 skeins of fingering weight Merino Superwash in the Milk Chocolate & Wine Country colourways, and... in the middle? Silk.
*purr*
I don't like the colour pink, but I couldn't resist.
So worth it. I have more pictures, particularly one of Mrs. Q rocking out with the yarn... but as I never am home, I haven't uploaded them yet..
So, patience, my children.
Also, last night I went to Three Bags Full and grabbed some Crystal Palace bamboo dpns.. and this:

No regrets!
My next big thing is learning how to spin..
edited to add:

Why do we still have wars?

be a do-gooder.
Sarah is with a group of people in Cranbrook, BC that are trying to raise funds to renovate a space to be used for a shelter, and if you have any money laying about, it would be put to good use by them, I assure you. She's the lil sis of a friend of mine (yo, Mrs. Q). I don't know if a lot of you know this about me (all.. 6 of you that read this.. :P), but when I moved to Vancouver in the summer of 2004, I ended up being homeless for just about 2 months. I stayed at Covenant House and they really helped me out.
And that was in the middle of summer, for pete's sake (who's pete..).
So go help out.
Also, check out my pumpkin:

No word on the winners, yet.

It's my submission into the pumpkin-decorating contest at work... an apple covering a mini-pumpkin.
